NEW YORK METRO FOCUSING
Sunday, September 17, 2017
NY Metro Focusing meetings offer an opportunity to engage in a felt sensing, interactive exploration of topics of interest. We value diversity and welcome everyone’s voice. Our conversational process encourages slowing down, listening from a felt sensing place, and letting what we hear resonate within to bring something new and fresh, both within ourselves and within the group.
MEETING PROGRAM
5:30 pm Registration and networking with light refreshments
6:00 pm Welcome: Susan Deisroth
6:05 pm Introductions of the Evening’s Theme and its Facilitator: Larry Hurst
6:10 pm Program
Program: How Writing and Focusing Can Enrich Each Other
Facilitated by Susan Rudnick
Writing is a natural extension of felt sensing as a path of self-discovery. So how do I start? Sometimes just the thought of picking up a pen can create anxiety. Our critics wake up. We despair at being able to express what is inside of us.
Focusing can be used in all aspects of the writing process: to find what we want to write, as well as reflecting on what we have written so far.
This workshop is an opportunity to help free us to embark on an adventure in self-discovery that evolves from Focusing with written words
You may choose to preserve a precious memory; discover the significance of a moment from your past; create a vision for your future.
“Don’t try to figure out what other people want to hear from you; figure out what you have to say. It’s the one and only thing you have to offer.”- Barbara Kingsolver (novelist).
I look forward to putting pen to paper with you and to our having a fruitful conversation!
This evening’s facilitator: Susan Rudnick, LCSW, works in private practice in New York City as a Focusing Oriented Psychotherapist with a psychoanalytic background. She is a published Haiku poet and is working on a personal memoir. Susan enjoys the interface between Spirituality and Focusing, as a longtime passion. She is also a dedicated practitioner of Zen Buddhism.
