NEW YORK METRO FOCUSING

MEETING PROGRAM
Friday, June 5, 2015

NY Metro Focusing meetings offer an opportunity to engage in a felt sensing, interactive exploration of topics of interest.  We value diversity and welcome everyone’s voice. Our conversational process encourages slowing down, listening from a felt sensing place, and letting what we hear resonate within to bring something new and fresh, both within ourselves and within the group.

6:30 pm            Registration and networking with light refreshments
7:00 pm            Welcome:  Susan Deisroth
7:05 pm            Introductions of the Evening’s Theme and its Facilitator:  Naomi Glicken

FRESH VIBRATIONS: An Adventure in Felt Sensing through Sound and Movement

Sound and movement have a profound influence on how we function in the world. In this largely experiential session we shall investigate how they can be used to heighten and deepen our sense of awareness and help facilitate a felt shift in our perception of who we are as interactive beings.

We’ll be guided through a series of visualizations to help us engage with, and sense into, the sound and movement happening within our own body systems and in our contact with the environment. Then, when ready, we’ll group together to carry our exploration further forward.

Who knows, we might take home some fresh vibes that become second nature in our practice of Focusing!

This evening’s facilitator: Larry Hurst is a graduate life-skills coach and Focusing trainer with a professional background in east-west health sciences.  He is a founding member of the cross-cultural Community Wellness Focusing Group, New York Metro Focusing, and the Focusing-and-body-movement project “Meeting at the Edge”'

New York Metro Focusing Mission Statement
The mission of New York Metro Focusing is to embody and carry forward the practice of Focusing and the philosophy that supports it as developed in the work of Eugene Gendlin and others.  By holding regularly scheduled meetings, NY Metro Focusing will offer members of this local geographic community ongoing opportunities to connect, share and grow in their appreciation and practice of Focusing.  The group will welcome newcomers by offering them an opportunity to learn about the life-enhancing practice of Focusing.  In this way, NY Metro Focusing will help to engender a thriving and visible presence for the practice of Focusing in the New York Metropolitan area.
