MEETING PROGRAM
6:30 pm Registration and networking with light refreshments
7:00 pm Welcome and Introduction: Susan Deisroth
7:05 pm COMING ALIVE: The Joy of Following Our Unique Calling
“Don’t ask yourself what the world needs; ask yourself what makes you come alive, and then go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.” - Harold Thurman Whitman.
When we are in tune with our calling, there is a sense of conscious connection. We are alive to who we really are. We know it. Others do too. However, mostly we tend to live detached from an awareness of our full potential. What might we, and life itself, be missing?
This session will explore experientially what it is like to draw upon our calling; what can get in the way; how to invite it into different areas of our life; and how following our calling can deepen our sense of identity and purpose.
NY Metro Focusing meetings offer an opportunity to engage in a felt sensing, interactive exploration of topics of interest – slowing down, listening from a Focusing place, and letting what we hear resonate within to bring something new and fresh, both within ourselves and within the group.
This evening’s facilitators:
Christine Bubbico is a licensed mental health counselor with a practice in Manhattan, where she places a particular emphasis on holistic healing. She has a special interest in Tibetan Buddhism, meditation and spending time in nature. Chris has been a member of New York Metro Focusing for three years and serves on its planning group.
Larry Hurst has a background in the health sciences. As a life-coach he enjoys introducing Focusing to people in transition in their personal lives, jobs or studies. He is a founding member of the cross-cultural Community Wellness Focusing Group, New York Metro Focusing and the Focusing-and-body-movement project ‘Meeting at the Edge.’
