FACILITATING THE FOCUSING PROCESS
BY RE-TUNING OUR PERSONAL ENERGY FIELD
Bruce Patterson

When we are not centered in our personal electromagnetic energy field, we are frequently impaired and not really present.  How can we Focus from such a place?  Not easily or well.  Being centered, on the other hand, is like being on one's personal radio station, loud and clear with no static.  Everything goes better with less effort from such a place, including access to our felt sense and our potential for joy.  Off center, our energies can be stagnant and stuck.  Several culprits can account for this state of being, including dehydration, hormonal fluctuations, allergens and environmental pollutants, but stress may be the worst offender.  Fortunately, there are simple, effective and safe "energy correction" exercises for re-centering ourselves that involve, for example, tapping key acupuncture points with our hands.  By attending to the health of our energetic infrastructure in this way, we return to our natural center, allowing for direct access to our whole body wisdom and our maximum potential for physical and emotional health.

Bruce Patterson, MSW, LCSW specializes in the energy psychologies, is an approved consultant in EMDR and a certified Focusing Trainer who, with Elizabeth Lehmann has taught a workshop "Focusing As An Underpinning For EMDR". He has served as director of the world's first AIDS hotline for the Gay Men's Health Crisis (GMHC), taught at Hunter and City Colleges and is a recipient of the Diego Lopez Award for Outstanding Service to People with AIDS given by the National Association of Social Workers.  As a volunteer, Bruce treated his fellow New Yorkers with EMDR in the wake of September 11th, 2001, and first responders in New Orleans following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.  In addition to his workshops, Bruce maintains a private psychotherapy practice in NYC.

Also, enjoy our FOCUSING COMMUNITY MARKETPLACE:  In a lively exchange with others in our community, this is a time and place to share your Focusing projects, workshops and trainings and to let us know what other goods and services you have to offer.  Bring your flyers and brochures for our literature table.
